Montevideo is the capital and largest city of Uruguay.

History

By the early 18th century, Montevideo was the largest city and chief naval base in the region, with traders and merchants coming from all over the Americas to do business there. The Welsh pirate Edward Kenway shipped wine[1] and tobacco to the city, making a tidy profit with each trade.[2]
