Messene

Messene is a local community in Messenia, Greece, that was once a prominent polis in classical antiquity. The city was also situated south of Andania, the home of King Aristomenes.

During the Peloponnesian War in the late 5th century BCE, the city was visited by the Spartan misthios, Kassandra.[1]
