The Mercenary Hood was a type of hood often worn by mercenaries who operated in ancient Greece.
During the Peloponnesian War, the Spartan misthios Kassandra found this hood in the inventories of blacksmiths and looted it from bodies and chests during her travels throughout Greece.[1]

Behind the scenes
The Mercenary Hood, a headgear in Assassin's Creed: Odyssey, is part of the iconic outfit worn by the Eagle Bearer in the promotional material, when the Mercenary Helmet is not used. The model of the Mercenary Hood is also used for multiple other hoods of different names in the same game, one example of which is the Shroud of Penelope.
