Matsura Takanobu (松浦 隆信, 1529 – 1599) was a Japanese daimyō from the island of Kyushu.[1] Takanobu was a host to the Jesuits' mission, welcoming Francis Xavier after his expulsion from Kagoshima, hoping this would help secure trade with the Portuguese Empire's merchants. However, when internal strife between the Christians and the Buddhists arouse in Hirado, Takanobu prohibited Christianity.[2]
