Andania Mine was a mine located north of Messene in Messenia, Greece.
The mine and the nearby town was home to Aristomenes, a King of Messenia who was known for waging war against Sparta during the 7th century BCE. After his death, rumours emerged that his spirit haunted the region and the Spartans.
During the Peloponnesian War the mine served as a military camp and was visited by the Spartan misthios Kassandra.[1]
