Maria Feodorovna (née Dagmar of Denmark 1847 – 1928) was the wife of Alexander III and Empress of Russia from 1881 to 1894.[1] She was the sister of Alexandra of Denmark and, through her, the sister-in-law to Edward VII.[2]
Biography
Dagmar was engaged to tsesarevich Nicholas, but he fell ill and passed in 1865, before they could marry,[2] with his final wish being that she marry his younger brother.[1] The pair quickly became engaged and married in 1866, with Edward VII and Alexandra attending.[2]
