Eivor dressed up as Mari Lwyd

The Mari Lwyd is a figure of Gaelic and Welsh folklore. It was a cloaked being with a horse skull mask.

On 31 October 876, during the first night of the pagan Samhain festival, the Viking Eivor Varinsdottir was dressed up as the figure by her friend Gunnar before going out door to door and rhyming with the locals for sweets.[1]
