Marcus Tullius Cicero (106 BCE – 43 BCE) was a Roman politician and lawyer.

He was known for his quotes, one of which was "Any man can make mistakes, but only an idiot persists in his error", which was used by Tacito in his note to a captain of Operum Tuorum Gemmam Castra in 38 BCE.
