Lyngvi

Lyngvi was an island in Ásgarðr that was used to isolate Loki's son Fenrir, who was prophesized to kill Odin at the end of Ragnarök.

History

In Eivor Varinsdottir's visions of Odin's time in Asgard, the Æsir lord ordered his fellow Æsir Týr to jail Fenrir after he subdued the wolf.[1] After his journey in Jötunheimr, Havi arrived back in Asgard, only to be met by Ivaldi at the teleportation gate as he gave Gleipnir for Havi to bind Fenrir. Using the Bifröst, he rode toward Lyngvi and met with Týr. Havi began to lie about the rope being a beacon for every Æsir to see. Meeting Fenrir, both Æsir lords saw the grown wolf as Týr initially convinced him to wear Gleipnir and offered his arm as a sign of trust. However, the rope began to burn Fenrir, who struggled and took Týr's arm for their betrayal.[2]

Immediately, Havi engaged Fenrir in a fight and successfully bonded Fenrir with Gleipnir.[2] Havi soon approached Týr, who lost his right arm, but realized that their fates were fixed and Havi technically did not break his oaths. However, he gave consideration only to Fenrir, who vowed to kill them all. Leaving, Havi led Týr to find Freyja to heal his wound.[3] When he was there, Havi also found Ymir's Tear Stone within a cave on the island.[4]
