In 1503, Luigi and a few of his men assembled at the Pantheon to collect the payment Egidio Troche was delivering, in order to pay off his debt. While Luigi took the money chest that Egidio had been carrying inside the Pantheon to count its contents, Ezio Auditore da Firenze infiltrated the Pantheon from the roof. As Luigi finished his count, he gave the order to have Egidio killed, though Ezio assassinated Luigi from above and stripped him of his guard uniform, wearing it himself and impersonating Luigi, in order to get close to the pagan party at Trastevere.[1]
