Luanda is the capital and largest city in Angola.

History[edit | edit source]

In the early 18th century, the port of Luanda was a common stop for Portuguese ships, and trade in the region was developing at a quick pace.[1] Besides merchants and sailors, the port also attracted hunters, who would come to the city for a few weeks to ply their trade.[2] The pirate Edward Kenway, through his fleet, supplied the city with rice,[1] tobacco, and wine.[2]

During the Seven Years' War, the Colonial Templar Shay Cormac sent barrels of food to allay the effects of a famine and gain leverage in future dealings with the Portuguese governor responsible.[3] Luanda came under their direct influence, though with the population still hungry, Shay sent additional provisions.[4]
