Los Alamos is a city in New Mexico, United States. During World War II, it was the site of the Manhattan Project, which saw the creation of the atomic bomb.
History
After the Philadelphia Project's failure in 1943, John von Neumann was forced to join the Manhattan Project and move to Los Alamos.[1] As a result of his involvement in the project, von Neumann developed cancer and, by 1957, resided at the Walter Reed Medical Center in Washington, D.C. While being visited by Boris Pash, von Neumann passed away and Pash took possession of his Apple of Eden, later telling Alekseï Gavrani that von Neumann's cause of death had "probably" been all the years of exposure to radiation in Los Alamos.[2]
