Palaces of Amritsar

Amritsar is a city in north-west India and the spiritual centre of the Sikh religion. It served as the seat of the Sikh Empire under Ranjit Singh during the early 19th century.

The First Civilization once inhabited the region, and by 1839, ruins of the First Civilization remained intact underneath the city, where Ranjit Singh kept the Koh-i-Noor hidden. As of 1839, Amritsar also served as the headquarters of the Indian Brotherhood of Assassins.
