LeNôtre was a captain in the French Army during the French Revolution.
By 1794, LeNôtre was charged with guarding the Sainte-Chapelle. He had been in love with the Girondist Olympe de Gouges from afar, and thus wanted her head after her execution. He cooperated with the politician Lemaitre, who wanted the head of the deceased Jacques Pierre Brissot. Together, they acquired the heads and had them placed in chests in the Conciergerie.
That year, the Assassin Arno Dorian stole the key to the chests, and recovered the heads. He then gave them to Marie Tussaud, a sculptor tasked with creating death masks of famous victims of the guillotine.
