Kimon (c. 510 BCE – 450 BCE) was an Athenian statesman and general who lived during the mid 5th century BCE. He was the son of Miltiades.
During his reign, Kimon strengthened the "Long Walls" connecting Athens to the Port of Piraeus, ensuring the city's continued connection to the port even in times of war.[1]
