Kadmos was the legendary founder of the polis of Thebes in Boeotia, Greece.
When his sister Europa was stolen away by the Greek god Zeus, Kadmos chased after them.[1]
Influence and legacy
The akropolis of the polis was named Kadmeia in honour of Kadmos.[1]
