Jumao was a pirate who served under Alonzo Batilla during the Golden Age of Piracy. Born in Isla de la Juventud, he was forced into slavery at the age of 8, along with his mother and brothers.

At some point in his life, Jumao escaped from slavery, killing the owner of the plantation where he worked. A 100,000 coin ransom was placed on his head, leading to his capture by the Templar Barnes alongside Alonzo in 1716. Both were rescued from by the French pirate Olivier Levasseur, at which point they became pirates, with Jumao serving as quartermaster for Alonzo.

Trivia

  • Jumao's relationship with Alonzo was quite similar to the one between Edward Kenway and Adéwalé. Both Jumao and Adéwalé filled the role of level-headed quartermaster to an ambitious captain intent on finding riches.
