Judas Iscariot, (died c. 30/33 CE) commonly referred to simply as Judas, was Jesus of Nazareth's disciple who would later go on to betray him. Judas' name would eventually become synonymous with betrayal itself.[1]

Judas was among the participants of The Last Supper.[2]
Legacy and influence
Circa 1560, the Spanish Renaissance painter Juan de Joanes created a oil on panel depiction of the Last Supper where Judas was pictured on the front right holding a money pouch signifying his betrayal.[3]
In 1710, St. Mary Matfelon's rector Richard Welton commissioned an altarpiece by James Fellowes depicting The Last Supper, and had White Kennett, the Dean of Peterborough and a personal enemy drawn as Judas in an act of passive aggression.[2]
