John Brown (1826 – 1883) was a Scottish groom under Prince Consort Albert and, after the prince's death, under Queen Victoria.[1] His relationship with Victoria prompted rumors that the Queen had taken another lover.[2]
Biography
On June 1867, John Brown was disallowed from accompanying Queen Victoria to a review in Hyde Park, which displeased her immensely. She would later pen a letter to Duke Augustus FitzRoy requesting a meeting to discuss ways to avoid similar events in the future.[3]
