Look, I see your point, but the Auditore are all Assassins (except for children). And I highly doubt Ilario would've taken his wife's surname.

Ilario Auditore was a nobleman of Florence and was considered to be an old friend of Cosimo de' Medici. He served Cosimo as Gonfaloniere until 1442, when he was succeeded by Luca Albizzi. Ilario was either the father, or possibly grandfather, of Mario and Giovanni Auditore.
