The Hôtel de Cluny is an hôtel particulier in Paris, France.
History
An outstanding example of medieval household architecture in Paris, the Hôtel de Cluny was built at the center of the old Gallo-Roman capital, with remains of a Roman thermal bath located around the structure.[1]
In 1334, the Abbot of Cluny purchased the structure to turn it into a townhouse, although the bishop Jacques d'Amboise essentially transformed it into a luxurious guest house in 1485. A notable occupant was Mary Tudor, the young widow of King Louis XII of France.
