Infante D. Henrique of Portugal, Duke of Viseu (1394 – 1460), better known as Prince Henry the Navigator, was a Portugese explorer and navigator, known for being the initiator of the Age of Discovery. He is also regarded as the benefactor of many famous 15th century explorers.

During the Golden Age of Piracy, a portrait of Henry was in the possession of the English landowner Peter Beckford in the West Indies. It was later recovered by the Welsh pirate Edward Kenway.[1]
