The Almogavar Axe was a heavy weapon obtainable by Ezio Auditore da Firenze during the 16th century. It was given to him after conducting a mission with a trainee Master Assassin.

As the name suggests, the weapon was almost universally wielded by Almogavars. However, it resembles a Norse weapon and would probably have been wielded by Varangian soldiers.
This weapon has a special ability, where it can use a sweep attack akin to long weapons by holding the attack button when in open conflict and up close to the enemy. This can be useful when fighting the notoriously difficult Janissaries, as they will be killed in one hit by it. The weapon dropped from Almogavars, however, does not have this ability.
Guards would often flee when the weapon was drawn.
