Haunted Tatarigami Village

Haunted Tatarigami Village was an abandoned village situated in northeastern Genbu Highlands in Yamashiro, Japan.

History

In 1582, the Kakushiba ikki members Fujibayashi Naoe and Yasuke ventured towards the village in the night and came across the "yōkai", the Kappa. When the two youths spotted them, they ran up towards the village while Naoe and Yasuke chased after them. Running into the village, the pair came across a group of bandits ambushing them but managed to defeat them all. Confronting the kappa, the two revealed themselves as Rei and Taku, orphans used by the bandits to lure wanderers to their death. Having explained, Naoe and Yasuke let them go and dismissed the yōkai rumor.[1]
