Hartford is the capital of the U.S. state of Connecticut.

During the 1920s, it was home to several Russian immigrants, including Nikolai Orelov and his family. Many of these immigrants were suspected of communistic and anarchistic sympathies and were deported during the Palmer Raids of 1919-20.
