Hammerhead sharks are a species of shark found in tropical oceans worldwide. Their name is derived from the unusual shape of their head, which gives them increased sensory ability to detect prey.

During the early 18th century, hammerheads were hunted by various individuals, such as the pirates Edward Kenway and Adéwalé. After killing the shark, they could then either sell the spoils for profit or use them to craft other materials.

Trivia

  • The shark hunter outfit could be crafted after a hammerhead shark bone and bull shark skin had been acquired.
  • While "hammerhead shark bone" is one of the resources that can be gained from hunting great whites in-game, sharks do not actually possess traditional bones. Rather their skeletons are made of a substance called cartilage, which is lighter and more flexible.
