The Hagia Sofia, formerly known as the Sancta Sophia, was a former Eastern-Orthodox basilica located in the Imperial district of the city of Constantinople. Following the fall of Constantinople in 1453, it was converted into a mosque by Mehmed II. It was also used as a library.
