HMS Milford was a Man O' War in His Majesty's Royal Navy during the early 18th century and the flagship of Commodore Peter Chamberlaine.
In July 1718, the governor of the Bahamas, Woodes Rogers, arrived at Nassau with Chamberlaine to enforce King George I's offer of a pardon to the pirates stationed there. They blockaded the harbor of Nassau, but the pirates Edward Kenway and Charles Vane decided to destroy the blockade in an effort to escape. Chamberlaine opposed the pardon, and secretly ordered his men to sink every pirate ship in the harbor. When Kenway learned of this, he boarded the Milford, where Chamberlaine was preparing to direct his men, and assassinated the commodore.[1]
