Guru Nanak (29 November 1469 – 22 September 1539) was the founder of Sikhism and the first of the ten Sikh Gurus.

He was known to medidate at a site located in what later became the city of Amritsar. The fourth Guru Arjan later constructed a temple on the very same site.[1]
