The Fall of the Assassin Order began in 2000, when Daniel Cross unwillingly assassinated The Mentor, leader of the Assassin Order. This left the Assassins vulnerable as the Mentor would oversee and coordinate the actions of the order. Abstergo also gained information on every Assassin training camp in the world, causing a global evacuation of every compound.
The Abduction
When Daniel was very young he was abducted by Abstergo Industries, who performed anesthetized surgery on him, exploring his memories and burying within him, somehow, an impulse that would force him to kill the leader of the Assassins as soon as he has the chance. This plan was called Animus Project Subject 4. He was then released into the world wearing nothing but his underwear and was picked up by a man named Luke and his partner.
Ingratiation
After several years of a crime-filled life, Daniel was found by Hannah Mueller who took him to an Assassin compound to meet Bellamy. After returning to his home, Daniel experienced an intense Bleeding Effect, where he saw the past, the present and the future. It also somehow unlocked within him, the strong desire to find the Mentor. Not knowing how, he had found his life's purpose.
