Alexus (died 48 BCE) was a Roman soldier who served under the Gabiniani Venator in Egypt during the reign of Ptolemy XIII.
Biography
In 48 BCE, Alexus was involved in a plot orchestrated by Venator alongside Lucius Septimius to assassinate the pharaoh Cleopatra in Herakleion. Due to his "eccentric methods", Alexus was tasked to dress up as a woman, complete with make-up and clothes, and infiltrate the palace as a musician. Before the plan could commence however, Alexus was assassinated by the Medjay Bayek of Siwa, who saw through his costume and makeup.[1]
