Gillian McCarthy was a seductress who relied on her talents to survive and protect herself and her orphaned brother. Successful in this endeavor, Gillian was able to gain the favors of the most influential politicians and learn the best guarded secrets.

Her genetic memories were later used as an Animi Avatar by the Templar company Abstergo Industries, for the training of their Animus recruits, under the title of the Lady Maverick.
