Giant squids (Architeuthis dux) are a species of deep-ocean dwelling squid.

Only a few individuals witnessed the appearances of giant squids. During the Renaissance, the Italian Assassin Ezio Auditore da Firenze saw a giant squid in the flooded underground of the Santa Maria della Visitazione in Venice.[1]
During the Golden Age of Piracy, the Welsh pirate Edward Kenway saw a giant squid attacking a white whale while he explored the Antocha wreck in the Caribbean Sea.[2]
Behind the scenes
In the Assassin's Creed series, the giant squid only appears as Easter eggs and cannot be interacted with.
