Forum of Theodosius

The Forum of Theodosius was an landmark and forum in the city of Constantinople.

History

The forum was originally built by Constantine I, who named the area Forum Tauri, or "Forum of the Bull".

However, in 393, it was renamed after Emperor Theodosius I, who rebuilt the forum after the model of Trajan's Forum in Rome. Theodosius surrounded the landmark with civic buildings and decorated it with porticoes and a triumphal column at its center.
