The Footpad (real name Lanz) is an unlockable multiplayer character in Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood, who becomes available after the player has has reached level 35. He uses a pair of daggers called Shivs.
At one point in time he stole from the Borgia. As a result Cesare had one of his agents, Fiora Cavazza, solicit his services. Fearing Borgia backlash if he refused Lanz immediately promised to repay the money, putting himself under Cesare's thumb.
Trivia
- "Footpad" is an old-fashioned word for thief, but was replaced by the term "Mugger" in the late 18th century.
- It is interesting to note that, in the trailer showing the Footpad, he is seen perhaps stealing something from the Barber's waist, before becoming the target of the chase; not unlike the Pickpockets from Assassin's Creed II.
