Followers of Romulus

The Followers of Romulus were adherents of Romulus, the mythical founder of Rome. According to legend, he and his brother Remus were raised by a wolf, and as a result, were said to be half wolf and half man. In tribute to this, the Followers' attire included a skinned wolf pelt.

In Rome of the 16^th century, the Master Assassin Ezio Auditore da Firenze was able to enter six of their lairs to find out more about them, and to obtain their scrolls, which were located at shrines inside each of the six locations.

In Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood, the Followers of Romulus are portrayed as powerfully-built, rather brutish men covered in wolfskin pelts, who attack viciously in large packs. They are armed with various short blades and throwing knives, and tend to growl and snarl when in a fight. When killed, and often before attacking, they howl like a wolf. It is possible that they are also adept freerunners, as the lairs that they occupy require such skills to traverse.

They are supported by the Borgia in their actions, and are mainly used to cause fear in the civilians to send them into the arms of the church. However, the Followers are used and misguided, with their leaders commanding them in the name of the god-like figure of Romulus, despite not believing in his existence themselves.

By exploring and completing all six of their lairs, Ezio is able to obtain six keys to unlock their secret armor, the Armor of Brutus, one that is unbreakable, and equally as strong as the Seusenhofer armor, the strongest set purchasable from a Blacksmith. The Dagger of Brutus is also unlocked along with the armor.

Each of the six keys is accompanied by a scroll, which, when combined, tell the story of how Brutus and other followers plotted the murder of Julius Caesar. In the scrolls, it is written that Brutus planned to hold the first meeting under the Colosseum. There, he found the Vault containing a Piece of Eden, and used it to plot the assassination. The fact that he was able to open the Vault, as well as successfully plan and conduct the killing of Julius Caesar, imply that he was an adept Assassin.
