- "I see him in my dreams, Anna. He calls to me, pleading for me to help him. To save him from the gallows. And I cannot."
- ―Nikolai, about the nightmares he had following Alek's hanging.[src]
Aleksandr Ilyich Ulyanov (12 April 1866 – 20 May 1887) was a Russian revolutionary and older brother of Vladimir Lenin.
He was also a member of the Russian Brotherhood of Assassins and a personal friend of Nikolai Orelov. After a failed assassination attempt of Tsar Alexander III, Aleksandr was imprisoned and later hanged, while Nikolai could do nothing but watch from the crowd. He was haunted by nightmares of the event for over a year.
