- "I see him in my dreams, Anna. He calls to me, pleading for me to help him. To save him from the gallows. And I cannot."
- ―Nikolai, about the nightmares he had following Alek's hanging.[src]
Aleksandr Ilyich Ulyanov (12 April 1866 – 20 May 1887) was a Russian revolutionary and older brother of Vladimir Lenin.
He was also a member of the Russian Brotherhood of Assassins and a personal friend of Nikolai Orelov. After a failed assassination attempt of Tsar Alexander III, Aleksandr was imprisoned and later hung, while Nikolai could do nothing but watch from the crowd.
