At some point in 1868, he gave a haircut to Detective Murphy of the Metropolitan Police Service, who asked him several questions about these disappearances. Not long after, he also cut a local deliveryman, George. Due to his recent decision to stop drinking, however, his hands trembled and he accidentally drew blood. After the disappearances of both of his customers, he was confronted by the British Assassins Evie and Jacob Frye, who were investigating the missing detective's case.
