The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) was a governmental agency of the United States that served as both an investigative and an intelligence agency. The agency was originally founded as the Bureau of Investigation (BOI) in 1908, but changed its name to the Federal Bureau of Investigation in 1935.
By 1919, several members of the Assassin Order had infiltrated the BOI and taken up employment as agents, using the agency's network and government jurisdiction to further the Assassins' cause. During the Palmer Raids, the Assassins' position in the BOI secured the safe deportation of Anna and Nadya Orelov back to their home country Russia, and later helped them locate the Assassin deserter Nikolai Orelov in the United States wilderness.
