"Old" Mr. Fayling was Haytham Kenway's tutor during his childhood in London. As described by Haytham, Fayling had bushy gray eyebrows and a habit of picking his nose.

When Edward Kenway began teaching his son to question what he was taught, and to reason morality and ethics for himself, Haytham challenged his tutor during Scriptures, ultimately earning himself a whack on the knuckles.
