Alaric I (370 or 375 – 410) was the first King of the Visigoths from 395 to his death.

In 410, Alaric and his troops sacked Rome through the Porta Salaria,^[1] scattering the ashes of the deceased Emperor Hadrian in his mausoleum and destroying the Basilica Aemilia.^[2]
