Evanthe the Huntress (died c. 420s BCE) was one of the champions of the Pephka Arena during the 5th century BCE in Pephka, Greece.
Biography
Accompanied by a lion, Evanthe was famed as sneaky fighter, stabbing from the side when her opponent thought they had her cornered. She rose in the ranks of the Arena into the top five, gaining herself a place at the monument outside the Arena gates.[1]
During the Peloponnesian War, Evanthe faced the Spartan misthios Kassandra within the Arena, and was slain.[2]
Trivia
- Though Evanthe's match is prefaced with waves of wolves, bears, and Daughters of Artemis who command the animals, it's not stated that she herself is one of them.
