Escort is a multiplayer gameplay type in Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood and Assassin's Creed: Revelations. In this type of game, the players separate into two teams of four and each team is assigned a different persona to protect. This NPC, labeled the VIP, moves to checkpoints, and the amount of checkpoints they reach add to the defending team's score. After five minutes, the roles of the teams are switched and the previous attackers now have to defend their own VIP. The game comprises two teams of 4-8 players and it lasts for two 5-minute rounds. Whilst defending the VIP, you do not have an approach meter, so it is best not to waste time preparing an approach.[1][2]

Gameplay and strategies

Team 1 is always assigned to defend the VIPs first, whose locations will be shown by markers. There will be three or four of them, and each will be walking like an ordinary citizen through checkpoints. Once the person has gone through a checkpoint, the protecting team will be awarded points. Team 2 is immediately given a compass which will point the way to each separate target. It is recommended that teamwork is used to defeat opponents, as a single player guarding a target may be overwhelmed by a gang of three or four enemies.[1]

The hunting team must always remember that the escorts are constantly searching for someone who fits the description of their opponents; any running or abilities used in front of them will catch their attention. A wise player will use tactics such as poison or disguises to attack the target without arousing suspicion. The defenders should also use their abilities to their full extent during the match, as a Smoke Bomb or a Mute can easily turn the game in their favor. It is also best if the hunters coordinate their attacks on both VIP's at the same time to overwhelm the defenders.[1]
