Concept art of Elmet Monastery

Elmet Monastery was a former Anglo-Saxon monastery, overrun by Picts, in western Eurvicscire, England.

History

Around 876, Viking shieldmaiden Eivor Varinsdottir of the Raven Clan met with Halfdan Ragnarsson's close friend and advisor, Faravid at his camp in Alortun. There, they discussed how Elmet Monastery was recently inhabited by the Picts for raiding.[1]

Through her journey in Eurvicscire, Eivor conducted a raid on the monastery and claimed its riches with her crew from her longship.[2]
