Admiral Edward Vernon (1684–1757) was an English naval officer.

While still a Vice Admiral, Vernon was Lawrence Washington's commanding officer in the Royal Navy. When Washington inherited his family's estate, he renamed it Mount Vernon in Vernon's honor.[1]
