Akinakes

The Akinakes is a type of short sword used mainly in the 1st millennium BCE. First used by the Iranian peoples, including the Medes, Scythians, and the Persians, the sword was introduced to Greece by the 5th century BCE and was used by the militia.

During the Peloponnesian War, the Spartan misthios Kassandra found the sword on her enemies or purchased it from blacksmiths.[1]
