I wanted to ask you something. Which is... what's your name?
This article title is conjecture. Although the article subject is canon, no official name for it has been given.
This article is about Savonarola's lieutenant. For other uses, see Doctor.

The Doctor (unknown - 1497) was one of Girolamo Savonarola's nine lieutenants, men that were given power to aid Savonarola in his rule of Florence during the Bonfire of the Vanities. Like many others, he was controlled by the use of the Apple.

Biography

Rise to power

Soon after taking control of Florence, Savonarola assigned nine men as his lieutenants. It was their job to make sure the citizens of Florence would obey Savonarola. The doctor did this by only treating the citizens that were loyal to Savonarola, thus forcing those that needed medical treatment to obey Savonarola.

Death

Ezio Auditore da Firenze found the doctor standing before a large crowd in a courtyard, protected by a line of guards. The Doctor offered free medical care, on the sole condition that the patients first pledged their loyalty to Savonarola. While he spoke the people, he gave a speech. After bypassing the guards, Ezio assassinated the Doctor. After the Doctor was killed, Paola and La Volpe were seen leading a group of citizens through the square.

Speech

"It's quite simple, amici (my friends). If you desire care, you'll submit yourselves fully to our new ruler. The choice is yours to make. Continue to support the Medici - who, as you know, have long since fled Firenze - or accept Savonarola. Why fight it? Why refuse? He is a good man, strong of character and morals. He seeks to save us from ourselves. And saving is what we need! Before Savonarola came to us, we were mired in lust, pride, gluttony, avarice...need I go on? We shied from the face of God, and why wouldn't we, ashamed of ourselves as we were?"

Final words

The Doctor's final moments
  • Doctor: You have spilled the blood of a healer.
  • Ezio Auditore: No. I have spilled the blood of a tyrant.
  • Doctor: To command such power over the body, between this world and the next. It seems, I grew intoxicated.
  • Ezio Auditore: And now you grow still. La tua morte non sarà inutile... Requiescat in pace. (Your death will serve a purpose... Rest in peace.)
