The Dionysia was a major festival in Athens, Attika that was dedicated to the Greek god of wine, Dionysos.

It consisted of two parts, one of which was called City Dionysia. During the Peloponnesian War, the Spartan misthios Kassandra helped a writer who was worried her play wouldn't be heard at the festival.[1]

The Dionysia coincided with the Asklepeia festival, celebrating the god of healing, Asklepios.[2]
