David Livingstone (19 March 1813 – 1 May 1873) was a Scottish missionary and explorer.

While exploring the jungles and rivers of Africa, Livingstone became famous in British media before disappearing for several years. In 1871, the explorer Henry Morton Stanley found him in Ujiji in modern-day Tanzania,[1] supposedly asking, "Dr. Livingstone, I presume?"[2]
